I have made lots of 18 inch doll skirts for American Girl dolls and have posted patterns and tutorials of them in my old blog and youtube. Most of them were written 5-7 years ago but up to this day, I get a lot of happy comments from people who made doll clothes using these patterns. So I revised these posts from my old blog, reviewed them and made a few changes on the patterns. So here is a round up of top 8 skirts and tops that I made as well with links to the patterns and tutorials.
1. Halter Top and Party Skirt:
Grace is wearing a halter top and gathered skirt. I used a quilting cotton fabric for the top and for the skirt, I used a sparkly netting fabric which makes it look fancy. Links to the pattern download and tutorial can be found below: Please note that the halter top is part of a dress pattern.
2. Strappy Top and Bubble Skirt
Isabelle is wearing a top that ties on the back of the neck which I made using a hot pink eyelet fabric. I paired it with a cute bubble skirt which is very fun and easy to make. Tutorial and link to the pattern can be found below. Please note that the top is part of a dress pattern.

2. Sleeveless Top and Ruffled Skirt
Blaire is wearing a sleeveless coral top which I made using a broadcloth fabric. The skirt is made from a knit stretch material that does not fray so you don't need to hem the ruffles. I used the same material I used for the top to make the waistband for the skirt. Tutorials and pattern for this outfit set can be found below:
4. Strapless Top and Maxi Skirt
Nanea's outfit is a maxi skirt paired with strapless eyelet top. The top is part of a sweetheart dress patterns, just like the other two at the top. I added a lace trim at the bottom of the top to make it even cuter. Make sure that when you make this top, you have a matching trim for it if you want a longer length, but if you prefer crop top, the bodice pattern is okay as it is, just hem it at 1/4" seam allowance.
